Lake Geneva's major regattas: Bol d'Or and Translémanique
Updated 17.10.2026
The lake's two big races, organised by the Société Nautique de Genève, and club regattas all season long.
The Bol d'Or du Léman
Organised by the Société Nautique de Genève, the Bol d'Or is presented by the City of Geneva as the world's biggest sailing regatta on enclosed waters. The course, about 123 km long, starts from Geneva, runs down to Le Bouveret, rounds a buoy and returns to the Société Nautique de Genève.
The 2026 edition, the 87th, was sailed from 5 to 7 June 2026 (start on Saturday 6 June at 10:00), with more than 400 boats and around 2500 crew entered, from foiling multihulls to the Surprise class. Entries are made online via Manage2sail; a race village is open to the public and the race can be followed live on the official website.
The Translémanique en solitaire
Also organised by the Société Nautique de Genève, the Translémanique, created in 1974, is sailed single-handed: a theoretical course of about 125 km from Geneva to the Vieux-Rhône, then back to Geneva. Edition 53 started on Saturday 29 August 2026 at 9:30, off the Ylliam lighthouse.
And all season long
Most clubs around the lake run their own regattas, from Wednesday evening races to multi-day events: their calendar is on their website. The list of clubs, area by area: Lake Geneva sailing schools and clubs.
Dates for future editions are published by the organisers: this guide does not announce them before they do.
Sailing during a major regatta
A fleet of several hundred boats fills the lake: keep your distance from competitors, especially at the start, and follow instructions from the organisers' boats and the lake police. The “Landing stages and next departures” layer is a reminder that scheduled passenger boats run on those days too.
