Club or school?

41 sailing schools and clubs around the lake, checked one by one on their own website or their municipality's. A school gives lessons and often hires out boats; a club races its members, organises regattas and often has a youth sailing school. A club is sometimes members-only: the listing doesn't say whether it welcomes visitors, so ask them.

On the Swiss side, a sailing boat with more than 15 m² of sail area requires a category D licence (from age 14); below that, no licence is needed (see Navigating Lake Geneva).
