Terms of use

Version of 16.10.2026

These terms apply to the Navleman application (navleman.ch), whether it is used with or without an account. Creating an account requires accepting them expressly.

1. Safety warning

Navleman is a navigation aid, not an official navigation instrument.

  • It is not a nautical chart. Depths come from a model (swissBATHY3D, 50 m grid): a shoal, a rock or a wreck may not appear on it. The lake level varies.
  • Routes and wind, wave and current forecasts are calculated estimates. A wave shown is calculated, not measured. Readings may be delayed or interrupted.
  • Lake Geneva's storm warning lights and the authorities' warnings and instructions always take precedence over the application.
  • Places (harbours, services, fuel, restaurants, dive sites…) come from various sources; some have not been verified, as their info card states. Opening hours, services and access may have changed: check before relying on them.
  • The dive sites are no substitute for training, dive preparation or a club's advice.
  • The racing feature (line, marks, time, suggested route) is an aid: it does not replace the sailing instructions, the race committee's signals or the racing rules.
  • The phone's GPS may be inaccurate, the battery may die, there may be no signal.
  • The skipper remains solely responsible for their navigation, for complying with the rules and for safety on board.

2. The service

Navleman is published by Urbanleaf Sàrl, in Rolle (see the legal notice). The application is free, with no advertising or subscription, and can be used without an account.

It displays public data supplied by third parties (maps, weather, currents, timetables…). This data may be wrong, delayed or unavailable, and the application itself may be interrupted, modified or discontinued at any time, without notice. No availability is guaranteed.

3. The account

The account is optional and free. It keeps a copy of the race courses, places, zones, routes, logbook and boat saved in the application, so you can find them on another device.

  • The code is the only key to the account. It is created by your device, never sent to the server, and nobody, the publisher included, can recover or replace it. Lost code = lost access, except from a device that is still signed in, which can display it.
  • Keep your code secret: anyone who knows it can access the account, change its contents or delete it.
  • Data is encrypted on your device before sending: the publisher can neither read, correct nor restore it.
  • Limits: 512 KB of encrypted data per account; number of account creations limited per connection and per hour; an account not synced for 24 months is deleted, as is an empty account (never synced) left unused for 30 days.
  • You can delete your account at any time from the application (Menu › Settings and data › My account › Delete my account): deletion from the server is immediate. The data stays on your devices.
  • The account is not a guaranteed backup. For a copy of your own, also use “Export my data”.
  • The publisher may delete an account used in breach of these terms, or close the account service; it will announce this in the application where possible.

4. Prohibited uses

It is forbidden to create accounts automatically, to bypass the anti-bot check or the limits, to overload or attack the server, and to use the account to store anything other than the application's data, or unlawful content.

5. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Urbanleaf Sàrl accepts no liability for any damage related to the use of the application, to inaccurate, delayed or unavailable data, or to the loss of an account's data. Liability for gross negligence or intent is not excluded (art. 100 of the Swiss Code of Obligations), nor are consumers' mandatory rights.

6. Intellectual property

The code, texts and layout of the application and the guide belong to Urbanleaf Sàrl. Map data, weather data and other third-party data remain the property of their authors and are used under their licences (see the credits). What you save (places, logbook, courses) remains yours; when you share a course by link, you are responsible for it.

7. Personal data

See the privacy policy.

8. Changes

These terms may change. The new version bears its date at the top of the page; a significant change is announced in the application, and account holders are asked to accept the new version.

9. Applicable law and jurisdiction

Swiss law. Place of jurisdiction at the publisher's registered office, subject to mandatory places of jurisdiction, in particular those protecting consumers. Contact: contact@navleman.ch.
